Beach weddings typically conjure up images of starfish, palm fronds and an abundance tropical flowers, however a stunning ocean backdrop lends itself well to other themes as well. I would describe Megan and Candlers’ ceremony as shabby chic meets the beach with vintage elements reminiscent of Martha’s Vineyard. Each bridesmaid selected her own mint green dress and carried a bouquet of wildflowers tied with burlap. The bride wore a beautiful lace dress with a keyhole back which was fastened with a small satin bow. Two bicycles were places at the end of the aisle as a nod to one of the couple’s favorite pastimes. On the front of each bike was a white basket full of shells Megan and Candler had collected along the shore in the days leading up to the wedding. At the conclusion of the ceremony the guests were invited to select a shell from the baskets and meet the couple down by the ocean for a shell toss. Location: Carolina Beach
